Food Award!!!! Food Award 2020

My fellow blogger Ruelha has nominated me for Food Award and I’m really excited to do it! If you haven’t yet, check her blog out at https://ruelha.com/ – it’s the kind of blog that always inspires me and puts a smile on my face! Thank you, dear Ruelha, for nominating me ❤️

The questions Ruelha has asked the nominees and my answers to them:

  1. What is your favorite cuisine?
I don’t think I have only one. For instance, I enjoy Japanese ramen just as much as I enjoy Italian Caprese salad. If I had to choose, my top favorite cuisines are Japanese and Turkish – can’t decide between the two and love them both equally because they both have a lot of tasty and healthy dishes.
  2. What is your favorite fruit?
    Orange and mango.
  3. How many meals/times in a day do you eat and when?
As a rule, I eat 2-3 meals per day – breakfast, which mostly consists of strong coffee without sugar and a snack (usually a piece of cheese), then lunch and light dinner. I eat only when I’m hungry.
  4. Is there any food/ingredient that you absolutely hate? And why?
Star anise – don’t know why, it just tastes and smells awful to me. As for food, I’d have to say any food that’s been prepared without care and love. Even the best piece of meat or fine vegetables can taste horrible if cooked wrong, without proper attention and effort.
  5. Do you think you could turn vegetarian someday? If you are a vegetarian, do you think you would ever expetiment and taste meat someday?
I’m not a vegetarian and I don’t think I could ever try this diet. The diet I have is the best for my body and it includes meat.

Rules:
1. Thank the person that nominated you
2. Pingback to the creator Elisha at https://africaboy.home.blog
3. Use the same featured image as your nominator
4. Answer the five questions
5. Create five questions about food
6. Nominate 5 people

I nominate (btw, these are sublime blogs, so I’m adding links for you to check them out if you haven’t yet):

1.CoffeeMama
2.KittyJade
3.A Spoonie’s Makeup Bag
4.CoffeeChatsss
5.Cookies Are Life

My questions:
1. What is the fanciest, most exquisite dessert you’ve ever tried?
2. If you could swap your current diet for a specific country/region cuisine for one week, which would you pick? (e.g. Mediterranean, Thai, Chinese, etc.)
3. Breakfast of your choice: espresso and croissant with jam or pancakes with bacon and maple syrup? If neither, what is your favorite breakfast?
4. If you’re hosting a family and/or friends gathering, what dish is an absolute ‘must’ on your dinner table? Would you prepare it yourself or let your guests help?
5. What’s the first dish that you learned to cook from scratch?

I’m incredibly curious to read your answers!

Wishing you all an awesome weekend ahead 💕

  1. Thank you for the nomination! I’m going to answer your questions right away. I am a vegetarian, even though I quite enjoy the taste of meat. Sounds very hypocritical, but the meaning behind it is so much more important than whether I enjoy eating it! Hope you’re well, and thanks again ❤

    1. Can’t wait to read your take on this Food Award! If you’re a vegetarian, then question #3 doesn’t really suit you (if you don’t eat eggs either). I’ve added an additional question for if the diet of your choice doesn’t allow you to eat those foods – you can just share your favorite breakfast 😊 It’s my pleasure! I hope you’re having a great weekend ❤️

  2. Hey Alex,
I really enjoyed reading your article. I’m so glad I nominated you. I love (alphonso) mangoes too. We get so many varieties here in India. Summer time (right now) is the mango season here in India. Your replies gave me some insight and made me smile…..have a wonderful week and thank you soooooo much for those kind words Alex….. xoxo

    1. Hello dear ❤️
I enjoyed answering your questions and participating in this award overall – thank you again for the nomination!
I’m a bit jealous – here in Europe it’s not that easy to find good mangoes at all, but I hope to travel someday to India during the mango season 😍
Have a great day ahead ❤️❤️❤️❤️

      1. Really? What kind of mangoes do you get there? Here we get at least 20 varieties of mangoes. Each region produces a different type. Mangoes arrive in the summer….and summers are scorching hot here…..not a good time to visit. But winter should be a comfortable time….let me know if you decide to visit…..anyway, hope things are getting better your side. Out here the lockdown has been extended until 3rd may. Take care Alex 🙂

      2. I think the main kind of mango we get in stores here are Kent mangoes. Sometimes they can be good, but I often stumble upon tasteless and just plain tasting mangoes, even though I’m trying to buy them during the spring-summer season.
I am so fascinated by India that weather was the last thing on my mind 😆 Someday I surely will visit! It’s on my bucket list.
Here we are entering a transition period – some businesses are starting to open, but very slowly. Some sources claim that social distancing requirements will last until 2021, and it especially refers to people in increased risk groups.
By the way, I’ve recently watched interviews with the leading epidemiologist in South Korea Professor Kim Woo-joo and found them very informative https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gAk7aX5hksU and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwoNP9QWr4Y&t=443s – maybe you’ll find them interesting too! It’s disheartening to see so much misinformation out there during these challenging times – it takes a toll on mental health and we really need solid, sensible information.
I hope you’re feeling well and keep a positive and optimistic outlook! Wishing you a lot of inspiration ❤️
        xoxo Alex

      3. Hey Alex….
Thanks for the positivity and inspiration. You sure are a kind soul. Kent mangoes….I’m not familiar with that particular variety…maybe I should look it up. Oh let me know if you get to it someday….I’ll be more than happy to make you a list of places you could visit. Our government has extended the lockdown until 3rd may and will review certain things by 20th april. But travel will still be restricted and of course mass gatherings….let’s see how it shapes up…Hope you are keeping well. Take care and spread the positivity as always….
        Xoxo….
        Ruelha 🙂

      4. Hi 😊
I rarely see the names of the mango varieties in stores, especially in the supermarkets – they just write ‘mango’ on the label 😄 The one I see the most often is Kent – they are elongated, green and red color peel. Maybe they go through the transportation better than other varieties – they remain quite firm even when they are ripe. Very interesting that Spain grows mangoes, but the majority of mangoes we have here in Europe are from Brazil and Peru 🤔😊
Visiting India has been my dream since childhood – I had a coloring book with all the traditional and ethnic wear from all over the world and Indian clothing just fascinated me (especially sari). Later I started watching Indian movies and still love them (surely they are just movies, but they still give a glimpse into the culture – food, traditions, etc). It’s so kind of you to suggest that! I’ll keep it in mind and will definitely ask your advice when the time comes.
Have an amazing week ahead and thank you so much for your positive energy, your wonderful comments ❤️
        Hugs,
        Alex
