SCINIC Snail Matrix Cream Review

Scinic Snail Matrix Cream review on combination (dry+normal) skin after two months of regular use

I generally have good experience with Scinic products, athough I haven’t tried that many of them. This cream is by far my favorite. Let’s get into the review!

Right away, let me tell you my skin type and main concerns. I’m in my late 20s and my skin type is combination. My T-zone can get oily (it depends on the type of makeup I’m wearing, but sometimes it happens by the end of the day) and cheeks and chin are usually normal to dry (in winter). Since I’ve switched to Korean skincare a few years ago, my skin doesn’t get dry as often as it used to. I am allergic to some artifical colorants and fragrance in skincare products – usually my skin gets itchy and flares up, sometimes I can develop a rash. I also tend to stay away from glycerin-based skincare, because it generally dries my skin out and causes dullness and flaking over time.

What I want from face cream: I want my cream to be moisturizing and good on all areas of my face. My T-zone is generally normal, but can get oily by the end of the day (in the summer or if I’m wearing moisturizing foundations), so I also expect my face cream not to cause oiliness. I want my face cream to not clog my pores or irritate my skin, causing breakouts and rashes. Ideally, the face cream for me is unscented or has very faint scent. I also expect my face cream to help with skin healing processes.

Scinic Snail Matrix Cream Review

➲ increases resilience and moisture level and repairs fine wrinkles to create mochi like skin.
➲ powerful moisture holding power creates moisturized and healthy skin.
➲ takes care of rough skin texture and creates resilient volume and firm skin.

Sounds awesome, doesn’t it?

Price: it was a gift from my mom and she said it was around $10 on sale. On Amazon I’ve found it for $18, but that’s quite steep

Used for: 2 months

Packaging: it comes in a box with the info about ingredients and then a glass jar with plastic lid (the metal finishing doesn’t get all scratched looking over time btw):

Consistency: if you’ve ever tried any snail secretion-based cream, you are familiar with that stringy lightweight texture – it is a bit similar to jelly while it’s still liquid. This cream is very lightweight and absorbs quickly, leaving no sticky film on the skin or greasiness:

Scent: very faint and pleasant skincare scent from the same category as the classic Nivea cream in blue jar. Doesn’t linger on the skin for longer than 3-5 minutes from the moment of application. Didn’t cause me any irritation either

Effect: A whole story here! A few months ago I had a mild allergic reaction to a foundation. I’m used to foundations lasting up to 12 months and this Holika Holika Petit BB Clearing had only expiration date on the packaging (was still a year away) and no indication for how long it could have been used after opening. It broke me out after around 8 months of use – my skin flared up, my face got itchy and I got small swelling spots on my cheeks. I used it twice to make sure that it was this exact product breaking me out. By the way, that BB cream was very good and I’ll someday repurchase it, but this time I’ll try to use it for not more than 6 months to be on the safe side.
Around the same time my mom gifted me a face cream that helped me get rid of the inflammation within 2 days. My skin doesn’t react the same way to all snail secretion-based creams (e.g. the hugely popular Mizon Black Snail All in One is drying for me during winter), but this one is a winner. It’s moisturizin and mild, doesn’t take too long to absorb, and is amazing under makeup. It’s not sticky either. By far, might be my favorite day cream.

Efficiency: 2 months of regular use and around 80% of the jar still full, so pretty good cost per use

Repurchase? I think yes, especially if I can find it again on sale like my mom did
